Enjoy the Process

I admit that this one comes naturally to me, I am fascinated with the process of all things.

“Not every end is the goal.  The end of a melody is not its goal, and yet if a melody has not reached its end, it has not reached its goal.”

~Friedrich Nietzsche

We can learn so many interesting nuances if we pay attention all along the way between the start and the goal.

Better Writing is Just a Start Away

Sometimes something that we want to do seems so hard to achieve, so we avoid making the effort at all.  We set up artificial barriers that say ‘I’ll do this new thing once I have more time’.

“The man who insists on seeing with perfect clearness before he decides, never decides.”

~Henri Frederic Amiel

When we were young we didn’t think that we had to win the Tour de France to learn how to ride a bike.  The same holds true for improving our skills, or learning new ones now.  We just have to start somewhere.

A Place for Levity, and Levity in its Place

Bringing a smile to the reader’s face offers a chance for deeper connection.

“I don’t cry over spilt milk, but a fallen scoop of ice cream is enough to ruin my whole day.”

~Terri Guillemets

Finding the sweet spot of shared humor is like an extra scoop of ice cream.

Exploring New Things

We like the tried and true, our comfort zone.  There are so many unsettling things outside of this space.

“Exploration is really the essence of the human spirit.”

~Frank Borman

We might just like some new thing so much it becomes part of our new and improved comfort zone, but we would never have known if we hadn’t decided to take the chance.

Taking Time to Replenish

Writing requires thinking and knowledge, mental space to mull and ponder.

“When the well’s dry, we know the worth of water.”

~Benjamin Franklin

We need to feed our minds and then give our mind time to digest this new information.  And then write.
